Varsity Volleyball Sweeps Roadrunners To Finish 5-2 In First Round Of League

Lions jump out to an early lead in game one, capitalizing on Roadrunner errors. Junior RS Caylan Medley and junior MB Paige Williams both had a kill a piece followed by an ace each to push the game within one of victory. Junior OH Sarah Newman would get the final say by putting a ball to the ground, ending set one 25-17.

 

Linfield led early in set two with multiple kills from senior OH Kelly Rausch but allowed Loma Linda to get within two late in the game. Rausch put the ball away once more to extend the Lions’ lead to 23-19. Senior OH hitter Makenzie Phelps earned set point at 25-21 by threading the block with a kill.

Senior MB Alaina Tucker went on to open set three with a kill inside 10 ft. line. The Lions would combine for 16 kills in the final set. Three out of the last four points were kills, with an ace from Newman in the mix. Senior MB Payton Howie put the nail in the coffin, earning the final kill at 25-18 as the Lions went on to sweep Loma Linda Academy.

Alaina Tucker finished the night with 7 kills, while Kelly Rausch tallied 10 digs. Junior setter Devin Sivertson earned 28 assists on the night.

The Lions will play at home on Thursday against Ontario Christian, as they begin second round of Ambassador league play. Match is set to start at 6:00 pm.
