Linfield Christian Athletics Welcomes Two New Head Coaches

We are pleased to announce the selection of Jessica Hagan as the new Girls Varsity Volleyball Head Coach and Michael Martinez as the new Boys Varsity Soccer Head Coach.

JESSICA HAGAN / Girls Varsity Volleyball Head Coach

Coach Jessica Hagan enters her first season at the helm of the Lions volleyball program. Prior to joining the Linfield family, Coach Hagan coached at Polytechnic High School in Riverside at both the varsity and junior varsity levels and Martin Luther King Jr. High School’s freshman team. She currently coaches club volleyball at 951 Elite Volleyball Club in Murrieta. Coach Hagan’s mantra of “I am valuable, I am beautiful, and I will do better each day” is one she instills in her student-athletes as a reminder that they are fearfully and wonderfully made to do more.

As a player, Coach Hagan competed in club volleyball for eight years attending numerous national tournaments including the Junior Olympics and AAUs. She attended Martin Luther King Jr. High School where she was a part of the first girls volleyball team in school history to win a CIF title and placed second in the CIF State Finals. Coach Hagan was named MVP, CIF Division 2AA Champion of Character, and Female Athlete of the Year by the US Marine Corps.

Coach Hagan continued her volleyball career at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa on both an academic and athletic scholarships. During her time at Vanguard, she won two GSAC conference titles and placed top four at the NAIA National Tournament; both achievements were obtained for the first time in school history.

In addition to coaching volleyball, Coach Hagan is a secondary English Laguage Arts Teacher and is married to her husband Jim.

MICHAEL MARTINEZ / Boys Varsity Soccer Head Coach

Coach Michael Martinez assumed the role of the boys varsity soccer head coach in 2020 after being involved in both the middle school soccer and high school JV soccer programs in 2019. He has over 10 years of coaching experience in the Temecula area including rec teams from U5 to U12 divisions with TVSA and goal keepers with the Hawks’ 06 girls team. Coach Martinez currently holds a US Soccer “E” license, a United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Diploma, and a Level 1 Accredited Interscholastic Coach with NFHS.

Coach Martinez believes that success is not measured by individual accomplishments. Character and integrity outweigh winning games and an athlete’s relationship with the Lord and others is far more important.

As a player, Coach Martinez played in the Olympic Development Program at the District, State, and Regional levels for multiple years. In high school, he earned All-League, All-CIF, and All-State honors and went on to play at Cal State University, Los Angeles.

Coach Martinez is married to his wife Jene of 13+ years and has five children, four of whom currently attend Linfield Christian.
